Walk in and order the posole, and all is forgiven. Chef Noe Bermudez has been running this Michoacan kitchen for years, making posole the old way: rich broth, tender pork shoulder, award-winning results. The side plate of cabbage, radishes, and limes arrives separately so you can build the bowl at your own pace and feel like you know what you are doing. The seven-chile mole is made from scratch with 33 ingredients. Westword called the posole "like eating Christmas in a bowl," which is a bold quote but not inaccurate.

Adelitas is a Latin and woman-owned family restaurant that has been feeding Platt Park since before Platt Park was a thing people bragged about. The posole is a family recipe, made with guajillo and served with the full garnish spread: chopped radishes, cabbage, cilantro-flecked onions, and enough lime to clean a countertop. It tastes like someone's grandmother made it, which in this case is not far from the truth. Head chef and matriarch Silvia Andaya runs the kitchen. The atmosphere is loud and festive in the best possible way. Daily specials include $1 Taco Tuesdays and two-for-one margaritas on Mondays, which means there is never a bad time to go. Come for the posole. Stay for the tres leches. Regret nothing.

Ni Tuyo is the newest project from the family behind Adelitas and La Dona Mezcaleria, which means the posole here carries serious family credibility. Chef Silvia Andaya's kitchen rotates between red and green posole, sometimes both, with the off-menu versions showing up as specials and disappearing fast. The molcajete gets most of the attention on social media, and it deserves it. But the posole has its own loyal following among regulars who have learned to ask about it before ordering anything else. The mezcal program is excellent. The charro beans have chorizo, bacon, and chicharrones in them, because these people understand priorities. No reservations unless you are a party of six or more, so show up early or accept your fate.
